UK producer Ant Orange emerges in Berlin with first
On 4th January 2013, Ant Orange releases the first in a series of EPs
produced over two years in Barcelona and Berlin.
ANTORANGE001 is four tracks of ominous sub-bass, ethereal
synthesizers and soulful vocal cuts, underpinned by syncopated
breakbeats which reflect a foundation of 2-step and jungle. Ranging
between 110-130bpm, the work is heavily influenced by modern house,
garage and bass music, and will appeal to fans of Dark Sky, Martyn,
Scuba, Hypno, and Jaques Greene.
An active figure in the UK electronic music scene between 2007-2010,
Ant is a co-founder of the netlabel dead-channel.com, and resident DJ at
Leeds’ monthly Gonzo parties. He has performed alongside artists such
as Four Tet, King Cannibal, Ital Tek, Reso and Cardopusher, and received
airplay on Mary-Anne Hobbs’ Radio 1 show.
Previous releases with dead-channel, Dirtyload Records, Sinoptic Music,
Marionette and IF? span a diverse range of styles, including hiphop,
electro, techno and jungle. Following a two-year period of studio time in
Europe’s dance music capitals, Ant has distilled this legacy with a focus
and maturity evident in the latest productions.
Ant is currently finishing work on the second EP in the series, which is
scheduled for release in early 2013.
