Transmission Recordings (The King Blues, Bodyrox, Sam Gray et al) continue their reputation for eclecticism and promoting exciting new talent with the release of ‘Fire In The Hole’ on 3 June. This blistering urban track features the talents of three of the genre’s best at present: K Warren, Vapour and 2Ton and promises to transcend the gritty environs of where it was created and break out into the mainstream.
K-Warren has been at the forefront of the UK Garage and Urban scene for a number of years now with a string of radio successes under his belt including that of Brandy & Monica’s ‘The Boy Is Mine’ of which he remixed into a chart monster. Since then he has gone onto work with everyone from Sean Paul to Bob Sinclar, Lil Wayne to the late, great Whitney Houston among others.
Meanwhile, east London’s Vapour has been a mainstay on the scene since signing to Peromi Records back in the halcyon days of the mid-Noughties. As the man behind the Taylor Made mixtape he has carved out a niche as one of the most respected artists of his kind without compromising either his integrity or music. Like K, he has the chops to be around for a very long time to come.
And last but not least we have 2Ton (or Joe Killington to his mum). Something of a songwriting wunderkind not to mention a don juan when it comes to MC-ing and chatter, 2Ton is that rare breed of understanding every facet of music and somehow turning it to his advantage. With hits including Armand Van Helden’s ‘My My My’, 2Ton knows exactly how to back and create a winner. And listening to ‘Fire In The Hole’, you’d be brave to bet against him.
‘Fire In The Hole’ promises to be an early summer favourite, whether you’re enjoying its vibes in Tottenham or Tenerife is down to you. It will probably make little difference. A great tune is a great tune.
