Presenting the follow up to his previous smash “Lazy Jazz” is Monobrother D, this time in collaboration with Olej for his new single “Saturday Night”. Serj V delivers the remix treatment.
Monobrother D, born in Rostov-on-Don in 1981, goes through life by the real name David Sichinava. His passion for music came at an early age, initially listening to bands like Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Depeche Mode, Everything But The Girl and artists such as Todd Terry and Armand van Helden. The music inspired him to the extent that he eventually became a professional producer. His debut single on Wildlife, “Autumn” was received with high acclaim and turned up in the track lists of the big names shortly after its release. With his previous single “Lazy Jazz” Monobrother D paid homage to the downtempo house sound of pioneers like Mr Fingers and Frankie Knuckles; this time he focuses on the smooth and layered sounds of mid- to late eighties soul.
With “Saturday Night”, Monobrother D and Olej move away from the frantic and hurried sounds of today’s electronic dance and deliberately turn the BPM way, way down. The use of vintage synth and drum machines shows that the two producers know the history of tracks like “Twilight” by Maze or “Is This The Future” by Fatback; all with a respectful nod and wink to classic Italo and a clear reference to warm and well produced old skool house tracks. “Saturday Night” is an undeniable deep house diamond that demands serious attention and will move everyone on the dance floor.
