Slime welcomes back to the label Swedish producer Totte, who since his debut on the imprint in 2012 with ‘Restless’, has gone on to become one of the rising stars of the global bass music scene thanks to his unique mix of melodic sensibilities strapped to party-starting breaks. Here he delivers a showcase in how his style has evolved over the past year, with a heady mix of guttural vocal samples, reinforced beats and sweeping synthesisers that will fill floors everywhere.
‘Filter Drip’ drifts in on a haze of swooning keys before dropping into a twin attack of crunchy drums and rolling bass. Baritone vocals duel a playful melody line across the surface to create an insistent dancefloor thriller.
‘The Mist Below’ takes things down a notch with a decidely more laidback approach. Drums percolate in the background as a chopped vocals pour some soul over the top. Melancholy chords draw out the atmosphere before the bassline kicks in with maximum effect.
‘ADSR’ completes the set with a mischievous party anthem, spliced vocal stabs juxtaposed with spiky keys across a bumpy 2-step rhythm. Combine this with an exhilarating breakdown and you have a classic cut in the making.
