Slime heads to Italy for its next installment in forward-thinking electronic music. Bodwan makes his debut here for the imprint but is no stranger to the scene, having turned out a handful of impressive remixes for other artists in his trademark inventive style over the past year. Bringing together multiple strands from house, garage, dubstep and beyond, he creates a compelling new sound that is rich with texture and emotion.
‘Above’ drifts in on an ocean of soothing sounds, washing over a raft of percussive elements before the bassline rolls in and renders everything with a sun-blushed warmth. From here the song reaches shore, and wanders into a strange hinterland of haunting vocals and harmonies.
‘Apart’ extrapolates the melancholy of the former track and distills it through a much tougher framework. Beats crystallize to diamond against a solemn piano solo before taking the track to the other side, with you along for the ride.
