DYP – Torn

[SLM094]

Slime Recordings heads to Denmark by way of Australia to welcome DYP back to the label. The recently re-located antipodean producer has been hard at work crafting beats since his debut on the imprint with ‘Vices’. Having further refined his formula of silky smooth melodies across intricate percussive patterns,  here he presents four cuts that are charged full of emotion and beauty.

‘Torn’ drifts in on plaintive chords and mournful atmospherics before dropping into bubbling percussion and cavernous sub-bass that adds some serious weight to the track. Glittering keys flicker over the surface with the lightest of touches, delivering a beguiling sense of melody.

‘Vivid’ picks up the pace with a skittering percussive layer woven into a rising tide of chords. The beat rolls into a deadly piano hook that lifts this track up to the next level.

‘Softly’ warms the vibe up nicely with a late night sultry house jam, sparkling keys and vocals working the mix all the way down into your heart and soul. Pure audio goodness.

‘Monoform’ strips things back with a skeletal beat and faint chords interspersing soft female vocals across a rolling bassline for some no-nonsense, heads-down 4am dancefloor action.
